Unhappy Davie Mc Phail - excellent, but....

As an avid fly dresser for over 45 years, I am always looking for new ideas regarding patterns and the use of materials. I found the Youtube slots of Davie Mc Phail, excellent. He is obviously a tyer of exceptional ability - but...

Could someone get a message through to him to either try and speak English or get a translater on the job. Some of the words he uses for the materials I find are undecipherable.

HELP!!!

He speaks English!!!!
He speaks English with a Scottish accent granted, but no worse than trying to understand a Geordie or a Brummy speaking.
Dodgy ground here mate!

Why should I be on dodgy ground here? I grew up as a Yorkshiremen and have no problems in understanding broad Yorkshire dialect. I spent my formulative years in South Africa and have no problems there. Brummies, Geordies, Scousers and East Enders present no problems at all

I speak 3 other languages in addition to English. I have absolutely no problems with German, Dutch, Belgian, Danish and Norwegian people when they speak English. But dear old Davie, I cannot understand 1/2 of what he says - seriously and I really do want to, because he is a damn good fly tyer.

And my late Wife's ancestors came from the Isle of Arran.

I have sat and watched Davie, in person at 3 'live tying sessions' so to speak, and inwardly digested all the videos, and I can understand him nee bother man!

However, Davie does admit that he uses one or two words on the videos that people have asked, "What does (insert word here) mean?", But these are words that are in everyday use, ie: "take" or "place" etc etc, not words for describing materials, colours, or even techniques.

If you can speak 3 languages, and understand 90% of the populations dialect, then why are you struggling with Davies? An Idea might be to copy & paste the video your struggling to undestand, highlight the time at which the commentary is 'swahili'(sp?) to you and maybe people can judge for themselves, and help you out?

Spend a few days in Glasgow, all forms of English will become clear after that.
