I dont know if this has been done before,but whats your funniest fishing stories,they would make good reading.We could even think about getting them published for charity.There must be thousands out there!

Well, it's funny now I look back.

I was fishing on Llanrwst's stretch of the Conwy river one sunny day. Fishing a shrimp for salmon (I know, I know). Anyway I managed to tempt a salmon to take a shrimp, a good fish too around the 13lb mark iirc. Anyway, as many shrimp fisherman do, I was actually in a bush overhanging the river when the fish took, so I had little choice but to drop into the river, rod still in hand and swim across to the shale beach on the oposite side of the river to beach it.

i had a mishap when fishing on still waters, just got onto the lake sorted out my gear and carefully chosen a fly first cast in and bang reel takes off within seconds ping and my line comes back and hits me in the face.

must of not done the knot right so anyway i looks over and another angler gives me the nod to say no luck mate.

so a couple of casts in and bang reels away again this time it the fly stayed on, i made sure of this, no less that 5 meters infront of me and i noticed i havent even opened my net so with rod and line rapped round one hand im sitting trying to open my net like arnie reloading his shotgun in terminator.

i get the net open and bam line,leader and fly in my face because im using barbless.

i yet again look over my shoulder to the angler who gives me the wink this time.

so i make sure ive got my net right beside me this time everythings good as gold its a lovely day less than 20 mins ive had 2 takes. about the 5th or 6th cast in

the reel screams and i think to myself whats going to go wrong now. sure enough fish is about 5 meters infront of me and im playing them quite hard

and my braid slips off......

i didnt even want to look at the other angler.

bad luck does come in threes. but on the bright side by the end of that day i had landed and relased 6 rainbows around the region of 2lb's when majority of people on that lake seemed to be struggling to get a touch
