Thumbs up Foxons - Great Service

I was in a shop at Bakewell yesterday and saw some Whiting 100 hackle packs for £15
Remembered seeing a post on here recommending Foxons for same product at £5. I phoned them at 4.30pm yesterday and ordered a pack of grizzle plus a couple of other things and they arrived in the post this morning
That is what I call great service, a big thanks to Roz at Foxons.

Yup, they run a great place there in St Asaph. Well done Foxon's.

Foxons, my favorite place!! We're lucky having it on our door step! And I have to say that Arthur has very competitive prices (often cheaper than the big mail order guys) and there's always someone with plenty of good advice when you get stuck...

I originally posted that Foxons had the 100's for a fiver. Yes it is a nice shop with helpful staff. We sometimes call on our way to Brenig. I wouldn't say it's always that competitive on price. Last year I wanted to buy two Sage Z-axis 10 #7 and they only offered me a discount of £50. Not much considering I was buying two. What The Squire's original post on this thread highlights is that it always pays to shop around. That could not be easier on the internet.
I have posted the link below twice already because if you have it in your Bookmarks/favourites it makes searching round lots of retailers easy.

Perhaps not always cheaper, but I'm often pleasantly surprised by the prices....

I don't think any one retailer will always have the best price on every product. Hence the need to shop around. Although Sportfish for one have a price promise. It's surprising how much you can save even on pheripherals that we tend to just walk into our tackle dealer and buy without considering the price. The Squire showed that he could buy an item for ten quid less just by remembering a post on this forum.

I don't think anyone is disagreeing with you, and I am a great advocate of the internet and make regular purchases view the web.

But, there's a lot to be said for being able to handle the goods before you make a purchase. Foxons have always been very good with me when I've bought rods and such like....

So yes, you can always beat prices by shopping around, but I do find Foxons reasonably priced and I can inspect my purchases prior to buying and in the case of fishing rod I can take them out to the river at the back of the shop and give them a flick. That coupled with good advice from Arthur and his team is worth a lot.

Sorry Andrew it's not worth anything to me. I am quite capable of making my own decisions. I am prepared to go into a tackle shop, handle the product, and give the retailer a chance at my business, if he can't compete then I buy elsewhere. I tried the Z-Axis on the river at the back of the shop, gave them the chance to sell me two, they couldn't come anywhere near the price I could get so I bought from another retailer. If you buy on the net you always have time to send the product back if you don't like it. Having made my choice only one thing governs where I buy my product, PRICE. To be absolutely honest with you while Foxons staff are helpful I don't find their advice any better than any one of ten different on-line retailers I can phone for advice.

As I said I respect your right to choose where you shop. I've always found Foxons fair with their deals when I've purchased from them. They are my local store and I figure I'm lucky to have them 15 mins from my home, there's lots of bad fishing shops around.. Also if I have a problem I can pop back to the shop and they sort it for me.

So each to their own I guess.....
