My mate is going to Italy next week, up around lake Garda and is wondering if its worth taking his fly gear.
Any tips or advice please, and whats he likely to catch.

I was talking to a few Italians in Slovenia a few weeks ago, said the trout fishing in the mountains was good, no more details than that unfortunately.

There's an article in the FF&FT about trout fishing in Tuscany.

Is it !!..I should have been in Italy this weekend, but work and a trip to the Pyrenees last week put an end to that...I have fished over there for the last 5 summers...Take your gear !!! I've not fished that far north but I can tell you the rivers I have fished around the Sangro area have some huge hogs in them...They are wiley and you will have to be on your best to catch them, but they go like hell !!!..Tell your mate to go for it...There's plenty of info about on the net and the locals i found are really helpful...Ask him to put a report up...looking forward to it....
