Default Attention all squinters

If like me your a squinter, squint no more. I've found the solution to our problems. I'm sick of poking tippet into mid air - it took me nearly 5 minutes one evening to tie on a #16 Adams. I don't wear spectacles, don't need them for reading, however when it comes to threading flies in the gloaming, oh dear!

I've had several possible solutions suggested to me. I even bought some needle threaders, only problem, I couldn't see the eye to put the threader through (nearly a tongue twister there). None were satisfactory. I can't quite remember where I heard about the solution, but a quick search on e.bay and eureka.

I ordered it from the States on Monday and it came today. Cost $12/£7.30 incl P&P, which was at least £5 cheaper than I could buy here.

Gentlemen....I give you the 20/20 Magnetic Tippet Threader

Put your fly in the T bar, slide the tippet down the groove and, voila!

I've been practising since I've got back home. Guys, it's so simple. Why did I suffer in silence for so long. I even got the gardener in to have a go.

If your interested you can get them here www.fly-fishing-discounters.com or through the same address through e.bay.

Cheers Macas,
I just ordered myself one as I have the same problem, especially when it's getting gloomy and/or my hands are cold.

Sharkey, I can't stop playing with it (ooh er missus). It'll tackle heavy hackled Para's, those nightmare Elk&CdC's, bead head nymphs, Klinks. My wife's sat here tutting at me. Just drop the fly in the magnetic T and slide the tippet in, I'm soooo excited!!

Great spot mascas, I need one of those. Have you tried it with the lights turned out?

Mrs Macsas says mind your own business lol I've just put it to the ultimate test. I've got some #20 spiders here. No problem. I couldn't even see the eye let alone thread it.

Default Another possibility?

Another useful tool is a set of 'flip down' magnifier glasses that attach to the bill of your cap by a 'paper clip' looking thing. Works a treat.

I have these and they're generally very good but are starting to annoy me because the weight on the peak of my cap keeps pulling it down and I'm constantly pushing it back into place. Also you have to work at just right distance from the lenses or it's worse than not having them and they are of limited use when sea trout fishing in the dark.

I've just ordered one of the magnetic threader thingies.

Right on all points; especially the "when sea trout fishing in the dark." GREAT one-liner.
