Hi', Lads. The Large Brook Dun has only two tails; and the Pond Olive has only the fore wings. Lake Olive and Pale Evening Dun also only two wings; all three in same family. Some nice pictures there. The flies sit nicely for Matt, North Country Angler; but they scuttle about or fly off when I try picturing them on my hand. Obviously fussy about the company they keep. TC
PS The only other upwinged flies that have two wings are the Caenis. Hope the above helps.
Just checked the 'Pond Olive' suggestion again. If it was about Large Dark Olive size, or slightly larger, it could be Dusky Yellowstreak. They do hatch occasionally on lake shores as well as on rivers. They are in season, but not very common.
10 out of 10 for initiative, Chris. I hope the thread goes well.

Terry

The Crummock water one was about the size of a Medium Olive, but I don't think that is what is was

Hi', Chris. The body and the wing colouring of the Crummock fly suggests Dusky Yellowstreak, but it should be a bit bigger -- could just be a small example. Hard to tell from a picture. Body colour also a bit like Iron Blue, but they are classed as small, as you know. Hope someone else comes up with an answer. TC

Great pictures. If I can speak for the dumbo's amongst us, we could do with an indication of size and season. Thanks, Alan
