Default How far do you travel to fish

I am very fortunate to have a excellent river fishing for trout and Grayling within 20 miles , However for Sea Trout and Salmon I would need to travel between one and a half and two hours and am considering joing a club. Just wondered what you guys consider a reasonable time / distance to travel for a fishing session???.

For great salmon and sea trout, i suppose a 2 hour round trip would be needed from where I am, trout/grayling rivers have an excellent choice within 20 miles

I'm lucky. I have a trout river within 15 minutes drive plus coarse fishing within 5 minutes. I do travel the hour or so down to salisbury occasionally but I love the availability of fishing just down the road ... makes it easy to go fishing after work

I've started travelling a lot further afield of late. I live about 35 miles from my club water (Conwy) and think nothing of driving there for an evening's sea trouting, fishing until 2/3 am (depending on the fishing) drive home then up for work at 7.30. Obviously I can't do this night after night as it would probably kill me, but while the fish are running then every other night isn't uncommon.

As for my still water, well I live about 40 mins away from my usual haunt (Brenig), though because of various reasons (cold weather/influx of escapees from the nets/etc)I haven't travelled there much this year.

I have enjoyed a couple of visits to Arnfield lately (I chose here mainly because it is a good quality water that is large enough for me to boat fish). The round trip to Arnfeild for me is 150 miles, which means leaving the house at 5.30 am, and if I fish through until the evening (which I always do) I get home around 11 pm. Is it worth that amount of travel? I think so.

Not many trout rivers in Wolverhampton, just the one down the road a bit which is quite small. Plenty of close enough still waters but it's usually a trip over the borders for BN's river work. Even so that's not too distant 30 miles puts me easily in the Welsh borders for some good sport............birdsnest

I have an absolutely massive choice of great trout/salmon/sea-trout rivers within 20miles of me. Ideally i wouldn't want to be travelling any further than this for a regular fishing spot, obviously wouldn't mind this on occasions. I really enjoy being able to jump in the car and being at the river within 20mins!

100m or so to the Nadder, about 20 mins tops if I want to fish the further stretches on the Avon, Wylye, Bourne or Ebble instead.

I do the occasional trip up to the Monnow at 1:45-3hrs depending on that damn M4.

I mainly travel to the large reservoirs outside Cheshire, Draycote, Brenig, Carsington, etc.. This can be anything from a hour and a half upwards from home. However we do have some smaller waters nearby that I need to explore.
