I fished F2 from a boat on Saturday, first time there this year. Having wasted a lot of time fishing the top water layers with no result, I eventually found fish very deep down in the water, in the south east corner, and managed to catch a couple. They'd been feeding well on the usual Farmoor diet of hoglice, buzzers and some daphnia. While I was anchored there, a bank angler nearby caught about 5 fishing the usual F2 deep and slow nymph style...if you see this, well done Sir.
I think I only saw 5 or 6 rises all day.
While I was packing up I chatted to a regular who was having an evening boat, and he confirmed the fish in F2 have been holding and feeding deep all this year. I'd say that unless and until the rangers advise the fish have moved up in the water, weighted nymphs on long leaders should be first choice with the booby outfit in reserve...
