Default Day tickets River Wharfe near Tadcaster

Hi

I have been up to Bolton Abbey and really enjoyed it but is there anywhere else on the Wharfe where you can get a day ticket a bit cheaper and that also is a bit closer to home?

I was interested in the stretch above Tadcaster near Newton Kyme and on up to Thorp Arch - sort of here:

Any one know where I might be able to fish?

Hi Scrawf,
I would have throught that the stretch near Tadcaster would be more a course fishery.
I am a member of BA and there is some cheaper fishing upstream I think. Try the red Lion in Appletreewick.
Alternatively try the Ure up at Bainbridge. You can get a ticket on it for a tenner.

I stopped off at Boston spa on the way back from Whitby last weekend and it's a lovely stretch of river.I spotted a couple of trout in the margins on the bank upstream from the bridge on the left, from the bridge itself I watched a half a dozen chub for ten minutes or so,two of which looked around 5lb to 6lb.On the way up to Whitby on Friday we stopped in Pickering and the small river there is full of small trout.

Thanks for pointing that out barbusbruce,I did see a sign but I'd hoped it would be possible to get a day ticket. The peebled area beneath the wier looks like a fantastic spot.I might have a crack at some of the North Yorkshire rivers this year,it took me 45 minutes to get home from Boston Spa whilst it takes me an hour and a quarter to get to my favourite stretch of the Trent. The new A1-M1
link road as made a real difference.

That stretch between the weir and the bridge is awesome. I've had pike, perch, trout and chub out of that 100 metres - and there are barbel in the gravel glide just below the weirpool.
Unfortunately, you can only fish it if you become best friends with a member and he takes you along as a guest.
