Completed step 3 of a five part plan today.. a loose plan, to get my boy 'hooked'.
He's netted a few of my fish before, played and netted a few too. Today was the first time he actually caught the fish - I made the cast for him though.. he's no Lefty Kreh (yet

) and the errr... 'boat' (paper mache bath tub) wasn't the most stable thing I've ever been out in so casting was left to me. A floater and a black klink was our m.o. A nice visual way to keep interest up, and with the fish up and at it, it wasn't too long before he's missed his first fish

.....and another... and another! Problems with slack line, half-hearted 'strikes' and general concentration were soon ironed out, and after a good old tustle, this handsome blue was his prize...
Grinning like a fool.... just like his dad!
Just the 2 parts of the plan left now to seal the deal... for him to make the cast, and to take the fish on a fly of his own tying

Resisitance is futile laddie... you will be hooked

He's tied a few flees before now, but I'm not sure today was the day for his err... 'Rainbow Fly'
Bless him, he couldnt fish for a wee while after the battle with the blue, such was his adrenalin level, so I had a pop with a single Diawl Bach, and gave him chance to practice his photography skills aswell....
Going....
Going....
Gone!
With concentration issues ironed out, and adrenalin levels back to normal, Alistair took charge of the rod again.. back on the dry fly at his insistance

and another fish followed shortly after. A lovely 'bow of 2lb plus.
A picture of concentration!
Job done, one happy chappie!
