Default Fishing bruises

Had a day on Grafham yesterday, very tough - hot, bright and windy.

Anyway, apart from the sun burn I seem to have a bruise on my forearm which I can only put down to casting. Has anyone else experienced this?

Am I doing something wrong (I didn't notice anything as was casting OK) or do I just bruise like a big girls blouse?

I was out with my mate the other day who noticed a small roundish bruise on the inside of his forearm/wrist, after much panic he realised it was the rod butt pressing aginst it when casting.

On a nother note, in my younger days when I was sea fishing a lot I developed a lump in my index finger which was down to the way I level wound my line back onto my multiplier. Still got it to this day.

Perhaps we should start a thread called 'fishing ailments'

No bruises that I can remember but have had a nice lead stalking bug in the back of my neck before. Not very clever trying to fish it in a high right to left wind. Ended up going to casualty to have it cut out

Being an abject coward I always carry this stuff. Once had a size ten longshank barbed deep in the side of my face. Good layer of this, forty five minutes later pair of pliers and Bob's your aunties live in lover.

A couple of weeks ago I got hit in the forhead with a tungsten buzzer. That really hurt. Supprised it didnt bruise to be honest

Also a few year back I was sitting in A&E with a broken arm and a gent came in with what looked like a 4/0 Aberdeen all the way through his finger

Makes me cringe to this day.

I have posted this before so apologies for the repetition for those who read it the first time around...

Carl Hutchinson was telling me about a visit he made to the tweed, as he was walking down to the river an old chap was walking towards him with a salmon treble lodged in his scalp., Carl asked if he was ok and if he needed help, the fella laughed it off and said he was fine, he was gonna drive himself down to A&E.
The following day he me the same chap at the waters edge, he asked how he was and he told him that during the journey to the hospital the other points of the treble had become caught up in the roof liner of the car, when he arrived at the hospital he had to sit and beep his horn until they came out and cut him free

just to put you off your tea

not pretty... you have been warned
