Default Polyleaders

Could somebody tell me exactly what polyleaders are? Are they a replacement for a normal leader and just require a tippet,or do you need to attach another leader and tippet to the end of them?

a convenient loop to loop way of changing tip properties, ie sinking ones, floating ones etc, after trying a floating one i came to the conclusion that although sinking ones are handy, the floating ones are pointless, or at least not as good as a normal tapered leader.

They're just 3 - 4 ft of extra 'fly line' like material with different sink rates that attach to your fly line via a loop to loop.

The clear intermediate one is a little stretchy (not sure on the others)

I have whipped my own loops onto the front of these (for attaching leader) and they're great for not snapping as they seem to absorb a bit of the shock from the fighting fish

I always use my clear intermediate one, but have the whole kit to try out different things

Question

people talk about leaders and tippets!
whats the difference??
i just tie on a 12ft cast on to the end of my fly line, so where does the leader and tippet come onto it?

All the same really.
You can buy tapered leaders (already made for you in one knotless line)

Tippet is also the same I guess

A cast is something you make yourself maybe

But yeah, they're all the same thing really. You tie flies onto them

I normally have a bought tapered leader(cost about £1.50)about 9' long.I attach a little 2mm ring to this and add a bit as required. This is the tippet.
Some people don't like the rings and just tie on a bit.
