Default spiraling fishing costs tackle/fees/obsession

Guys , got a bank statement for most of the month of may ..... I have spent £300 quid on fishing tackle .... I cant think of any item off the top of my head except a new pair of scissors at £3 also there is numerous £30 been taken out cashlines all over the place [ me on the way to fisheries ] totalling 3 fishieries so thats about £75 ...

its just too much money .... I thought it was an art ... its now an obsession . If im not fishing im thinking about fishing or other thoughts Usually this time of the year im at at car shows/events ... iv not been to any ... iv been fishing instead... and my car is lying in the garage with minimal attention .

I just cant help buying stuff and going fishing !!!! And it is out of control .

anyone had any similar problems or thoughts ?

note to brain: must not look at pretty coloured feathers

I can see how matt hayes and the likes have seperated from wifes etc

I think its worse getting into fly fishing. You buy you're kit and then you keep adding to it, since august/september i've ended up with 4 rods! All of which are used mind you. But the amount of money i've spent since then i think would scare the poop out of me! I reckon the fishing bill is probably £500+ getting close the £1000 mark which is kind of scary! Especially since i don't own any big brand expensive tackle!

You have all got it easy. I always fish with my wife so everything has to be bought in two's. All flies have to be tied in double quantities. Mind you I don't have to justify the costs to her so I suppose that's an advantage.

Tell me about it..............

Everything I buy also has to be bought in pairs...............Its well worth the investment however!

Now where was I, since getting back into fly fishing in April of this year..........

Angel 2 10foot for me
Angel 2 reel & spool for me
Marksman 7 foot for me
Marksman reel for me
Sage 6ft 3# for Sara
Orvis reel to match
Simms Chesties and Guide 4 boots
Orvis wader for Sara and boots
Hardy demon 9ft for Sara
Hardy demon reel for sara...........................BLOODY HELL!!!! It dont end there............................................

This is horrendous, however it lasts a age doesnt it?????

As i said however it doesnt need much justification when your other half loves it too!

I know what you mean i see a lot of cash withdrawals and then trips to the tackle shop on the way home etc. but the way that I look at it is that I would only be spending it on something else and at least the missus is impressed when I bring dinner home!!
