Default What do you carry?

As i am new to the world of flie fishing i would like to know what you guys carry in your tackle bags. I know the basics but it is the smaller items that you think make all the difference that i am interested in.

good choices marky! never thought of the headlamp, thats a good one. When its starts getting dark, I either pack up or just keep the essentials out- a bit of mucilin and leader sink in the front pocket of the waders and a couple of dries, everything else in my backpack safe as houses.

if your looking for one then this ones a cracker here it has a few light settings so you can vary the brightness and it also has a flashing function which is brilliant for signalling if you get into trouble.

Also as its led's the batteries seem to go on for ever, i put 4 duracells in mine at the start if the season and its still going strong.

hi viper

I bought one of those for camping a couple of years back, I really liked it but it was a little of the heavy side? I think it is lurking back home somewhere.... I will dig it out when im back.... Do they do a lighter version?

i dont think so, you can get the ones that clip on to the brim of your hat but i havent tried them, I bought mine for camping last year and it was so handy i just had to have it in my fishing bag too, glad i did as on the first day of the season i had to use it to find a path to get back to the van, and it stopped me squashing a frog too lol

I didnt want to post what i carry on this thread as its a lot lol !! i use the bus to get to fisheries on my own so i have a 100ltr rucksack filled with everything i need, neoprene chesties, jumper, socks, flask, sarnies, net, headlamp, camera, priest, forceps, 3 fly boxes, reel and lines, and on my jacket i have my snips, floatant and sinkant on a zinger. baring in mind that the place i fish is a club water and i'm usually there all day i dont think its too bad!

The 40 minute walk up hill with that little lot on your back and rod in hand isnt much fun though!!
