Default Belmont Reservoir, nr. Bolton, Lancashire.

Any wild trout in it? It says No Fishing (not Private Fishing) and seems to have in-flowing streams. Can't stand to see places un-fished......

I have never seen anyone fishing it, there are a lot of bream and coarse fish in the place, owned by the yachting club, Very heavily patrolled, go for it......

If you haven't already, then try Upper Roddlesworth.. just a couple of mile up the road towards Abbbey Village. Ticket from the Black Dog at Belmont. About a tenner for the day.. lovely little res, crawling with fly life, and some fine fish.

If you manage to keep your flies in the water long enough on Roddlesworth, I got asked for my tickets about every 3 minutes, nice to be asked but it was overkill

Lovely water and fishing though

Parking appears difficult, unless in the outer yacht club car park. But if it's 'patrolled', I probably won't bother with a journey that ends up with me being turfed off.

Dunno about you guys but a 'No Fishing' sign (as in no-fishing-at-all-allowed- by-anyone) to me is like a red rag to a bull. I just have to have a go.

How do you manage to fish Upper Roddlesworth on a day ticket? I hear the banks are mostly unfishable, the dam is a busy footpath and the boats are members only. Being asked to show your credentials every few minutes must be the last straw.

I fished Parsonage for the first time yesterday, and there were about half a dozen members on (forced off the river beats due to the high levels I expect) and I wasn't asked once.
