Default Evidence of poaching, Bowland Game Fishing Association water.

Yesterday I had a half day's fishing on Parsonage Reservoir, near Blackburn. It's controlled by Bowland Game Fishing Association, day tickets are £15 from my local newsagents. It was the first time I'd fished there and I was quite pleased to catch anything, less pleased to drop a couple, but that's fishing. It was a long sleek Rainbow over 2lb, full finned and put up a good scrap. Obviously one of the ones I dropped was much bigger, isn't it always?

Last night when I gutted it I was surprised to find it stuffed with sweetcorn! This has to be the work of poachers. I'm not sure if they have been leaving deadlines, or bait fishing at night. The whole reservoir is visible from a busy road and yesterday there were about half a dozen members fishing (probably because the river is up at the moment) so you'd have to have a brass neck to be using coarse methods in daylight.

This morning I've looked online for a contact number or email address for anyone from BGFA to report it but drawn a blank. If there are any members on here or anyone with contact details, please pass on the information or it will be even harder to catch next time.

I've got the name/no at home
Alternatively, call Swindlehurst's - they have the contact in order to issue your ticket !

What makes you think It's not legitimate members. there are deperadoes in every club, who must be seen to catch fish.

Members, maybe, legitimate no! Using bait makes them de facto poachers, doesn't it?

I'll report it at the Newsagents next time I'm passing. Can't believe it hasn't been noticed already.

...and Noeyedeer, don't even think about tying some size 14 yellow blobs.

Hmm - I was catching on a kate McLaren last time there - not much like sweetcorn.
PS, If you're going again I have another proven pattern for Parsonage too.
I'd better get a joint trip organised before the poachers hoik all the new stock out.

Jim is possibly right about it being members. You aren't going to get cheating anglers to court as poachers, believe me; I've tried.

Picked it up now - just back from scotland. No member of the club I know would dream of it and would be horrified by the thought. Will pass on. Thanks
