Default Interesting thread on CFF

Which is what's the hardest fighting fish.?

Here's my post there.

Bonefish - hard fighters, but you typically use a 8-9 weight and it bullies the smaller fish
Permit - awesome, but see above
Trout - some great, some bad...
Sea Trout - I've heard all about their fight, but in my experience, theyre no better than a trout!
PIke - ive caught a good few on fly to 15lb plus but i wouldnt rate the fight at all.
Barbel - incredible fighters, although ive never had one in the UK. and never on fly
carp - great fight on light tackle, but not much experience
others - chub can be fun, perch too, but nothing special

The fights i really remember were the trout in my av, which took 30hard minutes on a 7 weight, a big salmon, and a black tip shark of about 6 foot that snapped me after running 3/4 mile!

If i had to choose though, i'd say a well rested atlantic salmon on decent tackle. my best, a 22 odd pound cock fish took 70 mins to land on a 7 weight single hander. he went back ok, but i fought him hard. I'll never forget the take, the fight, and the release. I was even told by the ghillie that he'd seen him (tagged) on the redds. - fantastic.

What do you think>?

Where's the mullet? Still, for me, the hardest fighting fish pound for pound (in British waters at least)

The Indian Mahseer has long been considered the hardest strongest fighting fish and after a trip there last month I have to agree.

What about the florida large mouth bass, get one between 6 and 8lb on a fly rod and you will not get a much harder fighting fish.
