Default Salmon/Sea Trout License Law

I've been doing some browsing on the internet and can't seem to find any articles which clearly explain the regulations regarding the salmon and sea trout law.

I was hoping one of the members here could assist with the following:

I'm planning to do some brown trout fishing on a Lough that contains both sea trout and salmon, i do not at this stage have a license, as i'm only targeting ferox brown trout, now what actually happens if i happened to catch a sea trout whilst targeting ferox trout and i get caught by an official? And further more …Is a license only needed if one wants to keep the fish?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt I'll know the answer either way, but what country are you in?

Yes - a very valid question given your 'ArcticSalmon' user name.

You spelled License in Americanese. In the UK it has always been Licence.
However you may be thick, or possibly your spelling needs working on.
Either way - my crystal ball has become somewhat murky.

English fishery law is completely different to Scottish law, which is again, in salmon licencing different from Northern Ireland's law.

You also said 'Lough' and 'Ferox' which probably means you intended to fish in the Republic of Ireland - which is completely outside the UK.
Why not say so?

Very interesting, I'm surprised you're targeting Ferox but don't seem to know the laws surrounding Salmon and Seatrout.

Just out of further interest how exactly are you going to be " targeting " Ferox. Will you be using the tried and trusted dapping method which is known to be very effective ?

Please do forgive me, as English is not my mother tongue, but as you so eloquently put i'm rather "thick" or what was the other word you used "cretin".

For your information Northern Ireland is part of the UK, and has both ferox and loughs, and your calling me "thick"? Come on, best you go back to school.

Yes Don - thank you very much. I agree.

The rest of my, possibly inflamatory, post now deleted.

Hi
Arctic salmon, you might not get far with outbursts like you recent post on this forum.just a word of advice,

with regard to your original question,

the law or bylaws with regard to salmon and sea trout licences and bylaws changes as to which country you fish in,hence the question,Which country are you fishing in,then with this answer we can possibly fill in the gaps or amswers to your original question.

I am not going to get into a slanging match with regard to sports, but your comments Re-world war two were i feel a little underhand and outspoken.

Bry
