Default Yorkshire Gamefishers rivers evening

Thanks to Mike for organising the rivers fishing evening last night - even if weather made it interesting! It was an enjoyable challenge to tackle a small wild river and a pleasure to catch some beautifully marked and coloured wild trout.

Good also to meet up with and have a couple of pints with fellow forum members and get some tips and advice on fly fishing in Yorkshire

Default Fairweather fishermen......NOT!

Hi dan gill

I will second the thanks to Mike Pogson of Yorkshire Gamefishers and Slathwaite Angling Club.

I cant even say that he could have organised better weather....because fish we did.
When I looked at the Calder (after lunch) it was coloured and still rising making it unfishable.....So off to the tribs then
First look over the Slathwaite town bridge saw half a dozen or so fish very actively rising in water with a little colour but eminently fishable.

We fished on, through some very heavy squalls (including hailstones),untill the river rose and coloured (still catching till 9pm)With everyone catching fish(circa 40 for our group) in fine condition and all retiring for a de-brief in the pub
Unlike the other 'group' on the Holme.......Mike P rang grayling_angler....his wife answered saying he was tucked up warm in bed, already, with his cocoa......and they all caught fish too

Your both welcom and I'm glad you had a good night and managed to catch despite the rain.

Cheers

Michael

Big thanks to Mike for organising the evening.
Despite the weather, I really enjoyed fishing a fantastic little river.

Just need a week for my kit to dry out !

Thanks from me too Mike. I thoroughly enjoyed the evening despite it being a touch damp, and found myself totally absorbed in your cracking little river.

I appreciated the trouble you went to to show me my stretch, which included navigating a sodden cow field in your shoes, when I was very glad I'd got my waders on!

Topped off with our little social at the pub,it all made for a very pleasant time.
