I take it you mean Severn?? Not many (if any!) trout around there!!! I believe the river through Ironbridge (road side) itself is free. I may be wrong but if i am then i've been poaching!!!

The best thing to do is go into the tackleshop in Ironbridge. They sell day tickets for most of the river round there.

The Barbel fishing is fantastic, just make sure you have alot of halibut pellets!!

well you have and you havnt reason being its all day ticket water and there is usually a bailiff that comes round for payment, if you want to try for barbel ,dale end car park area is quite good ,and if you go into the car park drive to the bottom there is an opening in the fence for parking to fish right at the side of the river, if you dont fancy there as you come out of car park turn left and there is a little layby on your left about 3/400yds up the road at the side of the road if you get to a T junction you have gone past it,park in lay by at an angle go through gate and walk downstream towards the power station outlet fish opposite it or just above it and fish to the far bank as close as you can get it,spicy chicken boilies or elips pellets they are used to hallibuts so try something different also try down inside bank for chub .....

Well it looks like i've been lucky then!! Not fished that section much but fish the Prince Albert water just upstream quite alot. The water at Sheinton is awsome. Big fish aswell. Your right about the Halibut pellets but i've found scaling down to 6mm does the trick if they get finicky.

It's right in the middle opposite the Iron bridge. Next to the post office.

Thanks for the info guys - spoke to the EA - turn out it's free fishing right outside my hotel (opposite the ironbridge) on the "town" beat for about 400yds upstream.
It's actually privately owned but you can fish free.
Unfortunately tonght it's brown and full of grue after rain, better suited to spinning. (and I haven't brought a spinning rod). Looks like I'm forced to spend the evening in the pub instead

Tackle shop is still there, open 10:00 -> ?
Even have a Shakey fly outfit in the window (there's hope yet )

Surely anything you're likely to catch in the Severn at Ironbridge is currently out of season?
