Default Greys floating line is it fualty ?

At the weekend past i got a new grxi floating line. When i tried to put the backing line on to it using a nail knot the sleeve of the line come of the 3 times that i tried it. has anyone had this ? I called greys and they said to use a braided loop but i think it would do the same because the problem is with the coating and the braid would come off at the end of the line the part where the braid ends ? The core is left i was thinking how i could join that to the backing ? Any ideas or comments would be apreciated Thanks Alan !! Called greys today again "21st may" And again there advising me to use a loop quite adiment that the line is not fualty it,s hapening becuase I used a needle knot and that had broke the bond between the core and coating i explained it was not a needle knot but a nail knot however this did knot stick to the teflon shoulder he was giving me . So if anyone is planing on buying a grxi line then bear this in mind reguardless of price a braided core line should not do this i,ve nail knotted a ron thomson line and it was fine and only cost £10 Greys customer service has went way down in my estimations.

No matter what the core consists of, the outer cover should not pull away that easily, you should take it back! - Get a re,fund.

Just rough it up a little with a fine sand paper

Did you mean the plastic is actually breaking off away from the core , or the knot is just pulling off the line and not holding ??

Sorry i just woke up

Bollox.

Mono cored fly lines will do this (strip the outer) with a nail knot - but be slightly less prone to doing it with a braided loop - there are other ways of joining backing to line.

What is the core?

This man has asked an important question - which, so far, no bu88er has tried to answer.

Braid or Monofilament?
