How long is a piece of string? I have seen hatches lasting for 5mins to most of the day! Remember being on Loch Awe last year when there was a massive hatch which would have lasted all day but for the fact the wind got up.

You get loads of Mayfly in Scotland, only its more like the end of June beginning of July fly Not aware of any rivers that get great hatches but plenty get small hatches but never seemingly enough to interest the troots. Lochs are a different matter, the troots can go loopy over them. Stan Headley just did an article in one of the mags on Scottish Mayfly.

As Strathearn says, you are more likely to encounter them further on in the year, a fact agreed by Stan Headley also. Thats to say its not set in stone but as the weeks progress, especially in june/july you will see greater numbers of them.
