Default Places to fish near Rotherham?

Work is taking me away from home for next few years. Anyone know of a venue near Rotherham/Leeds?

Thanks in advance,
Jay.

Bernie Maher's place at Press Manor (www.pressmanorfishery.inuk.com)
is worth a visit, if you like small to medium sized fisheries or there is always Carsington or Ladybower if you are into the reservoir scene.
I have some good days at Walton Hall near Wakefield in the past couple of years as well.

Welcome to civilisation in dear old Yorkshire.

Hi Jay,

Well i live in Rotherham, and there are one or two venues worth a visit around here. I am a member at thrybergh country park, which is in Rotherham itself. Its about £9 for 2 fish, and then C&R. Its a fair size resevoir, not all that picturesque, but a fair day on its day.

I am also a member at Barlow lakes, which is about a 1/2 hour drive from Rotherham, and has 4 small lakes www.barlowlakes.co.uk and is approx £10 for 2 fish and then C&R. Barlow is one of the more picturesque/natural waters in this area, and is my preffered venue.

There is also lakeside lakes, which is in Ranskill nr Bawtry, and has some nice fish, and is well run, but is not the most natural bit of lake you will come across. I think its £9 C&R or £11 for 2 fish. Its certainly worth a visit.

We have Walton hall in Wakefield. I have never fished here, but it is about 1/2 hr from Rotherham, and looks worth a visit, but i think its nearer £20 for the day, and i have not heard mega great reports for that kind of money, although it does look a nice piece of water.

The earlier post about press manor is also a good venue, and Bernie is always there to help. If you`re moving to Rotherham, and need any advise on the fishing, don`t hesitate to PM me, and i will help whenever i can. Also when you get here, and you want showing a water or two, give me a shout and i`ll gladly accompany you to one or two waters to show you around.

Regards

Deano
