Default Fishing limits

How do they work? May seem like a stupid question but for example, if the limit is four fish followed by six catch and release, do I have to take four fish? What if I only want one? Can I then catch and release nine there after?

Thanks,
Andy.

Depends on the fishery and its rules ie some fisheries stipulate that you MUST kill the first allocated number of fish before the C & R rule applies..

you would need to talk to the people in charge at whatever fishery you intend to go to because as i`ve said each one differs from the other..

hope this helps

Generally speaking, what you say means kill the first four fish caught, release the next six and buy another ticket, or go home. I once saw a twit at a local lake catch 24 stockies on lures, never moved his feet, bought six tickets to cover that lot, (four per day catch limit, no CandR in those days.) But, then, who am I to judge others? If he enjoyed paying out for little stockies at that rate, that was his business. TC
Dry fly and buzzers would have lengthened his day, and would probably have produced bigger, 'naturalised' fish, for a fraction of his outlay.
