Exclamation Important

Just to remind people to chech their inflatable life-jackets before going fishing. I just checked mine by blowing it up using the inflation tube, as I do before any fishing trip, and it's leaking!

Please make sure you check yours regularly!

Quite correct oh handsome one.........I keep banging on about the importance of safety on the water. You can get it right many times but you only get it wrong once !! This is not the place for complacency............................birdsnest

My next door neighbor use to service Liferafts for the likes of Caledionian Macbryne.

He gave some tips about the life jackets.

Every 3 mths disconnect the canister, and on the side it should give you the weight, mine says 138grams, stick it on some digital scales and it should weigh a tolerance of 2-4grms over what it says on the cannister, if its below and you have a leaky cannister.

With the cannister disconnected blow it up using the mouth piece and leave for at least 2hrs, any leaks will show up during that time.

Check to see how much of the tablet is still visible and how much deterioration has occurred. This might need replaced.

Check all the seams and folds of the vest for any obvious signs of wear and tear.
