Default Tube flies

I have bought some of a member from this site but have one question how do you catch a fish without the hook. In other words how do i attach one to the tube?

You run the leader throught the middle of the tube then attach a hook to the end of the leader. There should be a small length of silicon tubing on the end of the tube to secure the hook to the back of the tube.

Great flies on the res's, not everyones cup of tea but deadly at times.

You can try three at a time if you like but i wouldn't recomend it!!! The ones i fish are pretty large, in fact, they're huge!!!! Because of this i fish them on their own.

Don't see whey you couldn't fish a small one on the point with a dropper above. I know Sea trout fishers do this in Wales.

Just to chime in with my own question, if I may?

From what I have read, one fishes them on heavy sinking lines, really close to the bottom; is that correct?

Do you strip them back slowly or quickly?

Many thanks for any advice given.

Ben

Hi Ben,

Yes you can fish with sinking lines/leaders but i use tubes for the sea trout on a floating line, and don't forget they can be plastic, aluminium, copper or brass.
I vary the retrieve as with most fishing, although a slow figure of eight retrieve works for me.

Cheers

Richard

A short shank hook on a long streamer fly. -

Some people believe the the long shank can act as a lever resulting in more fish lost....
