Default Wet fly or Nymph

Afternoon,

If my basic understanding is wrong please can someone correct me, but i believe both wet and nymphs fish under the surface!? my real question is how do you dictate the depth that they sink to? Is this where this line greaser or whatever it is comes into play?

Cheers

Gazza

To find the depth a fish feeds at on a particular day ,use the countdown method.Cast out and before you retrieve count to 5 then retrieve,do this for so long and if you dont get a touch cast out and count ot 10 retrieve and so on moving down in blocks of 5 which helps cover different depths till you find fish.If you are fishing deep waters then a change of line ie to intermediete or sinking lines may be better than waiting but the countdown method still apllies using those lines aswell..
