Default Float tubing in Scottish canals ?

Hi,

Does anyone know if float tubing is allowed in Scottish canals ? I have seen kyaks on the Firth & Clyde.

I doubt that british waterways have ever considered the use of float tubes on the canals so i wouldnt imagine it would be against the rules. I'd say go for it, the worst they can do is ask you to stop.

I'm fairly sure that if you join the SCA you get a licence to use the canals.

This is no proof of your sanity.

I have often thought about this - to be honest is anyone going to stop you?

Just keep an eye open for barges - I suspect as you may be low down they may not see you!

There are parts beyond the city that are just too difficult to fish for pike on the fly due to trees and bushes behind you - on the far side there are some lovely spots - you cannae roll cast a monster pike fly - or at least I cannot!
