It’s porn. Pure porn. Tackle catalogues, I mean. I’ve a stack of them - John Norris, Sportfish, Tightlines, Glasgow AC, Garry Evans, Orvis, Carillon and I can’t stop looking at them. I want, I want I want…but most of what I take out fishing with me these days weighs a few ounces and is carried on a lanyard round my neck. I’ve fishing ‘performance wear’ that doesn’t come out of its cupboard from one season to the next, more fly tying equipment than I could use in a lifetime (RIP my dear, departed pal Ken Purnell, to whom a lot of it used to belong).

And yet here I am with my eyes bigger than my belly, tempted and taunted by the latest gorgeous gear. My fishing needs cloud cover more than it needs new gizmos and gadgets, and yet I can’t stop looking. Go away….LEAVE ME ALONE!

Spot on David, very funny I have a stack of such "porn" by the bed and even though I always mean to read a book, I sort of get distracted by those glossy pages full of gear every time.... I'm sure my missus thinks it would be far more normal if it was actually proper porn!

My favourite as a boy used to be those superb Abu Tightlines catalogues from the 70s, with articles and big game stuff in them and all sorts of cool scandanavian types wrestling with huge salmon. I'm afraid they corrupted me from an early age....

I also have two copies of said porn, and apart from one of each by the bed, I have one on the couch.
I go in to watch TV and invariably miss the thread of the programme because I can't stop peeping at said mags, which I have already read a dozen times.
