Default fly presentation

after a good 5 hours fishing today without as even as a knock on my line i sat there thinking probally what most angler go through "what am i doing wrong",

after changing fly's, leader lengths, and still nothing, but as i look around the pool people are pulling on there fly line's like its a hot potato, and others are gentally smothest of movements by wrapping the line around their hands,

where as ive got a short smooth sort of pull method,

is there any distinctive way of pulling in the fly line or is it diffrent for each type of fly.

or is this one of the things that ill gradually develop for each situation ?

In my opinion any fly lets say that is in the water colum that needs to be retrieved it really does not matter how you retrieve it,long pulls, slow figure of eight, twiching it back and generally mixing it up do all this and you should find which way the fish like it and stick with it

Every day is different and the secret is to find the right depth, retrieve and fly by trying them all, every time you go fishing.
