Default Wanted: Experienced River Fisherman on River Test

I am looking to improve my river fishing and would seriously like someone (experienced) to come along for a day's fishing and 'improve' me.

I have a couple of trips booked to the River Test and would be happy to take someone along for the day.

Anyone got any recommendations?

Try Darren Lewis who is on here he knows the Test, he knows the Test fly life and he could probably brush you up on your casting. Nice guy.

Talk to him and I don't think he will cost you too much.

I have had a brief lesson from Darren before. Very nice guy.

I was hoping to offer someone a day ticket with me on the Test as opposed to paying for a lesson as such.

Thanks for the votes of confidence guys.

If I wasn't so busy at the moment I may well have taken you up on the offer myself, a day on the Test isn't something to be sniffed at! Alas, my life revolves around weddings at the moment so pleasure fishing has had to be put on the back burner for a few months!

There are quite a few guys on here who are experienced on the chalkstreams, do you know which beat? Perhaps letting them know which beat would elicit a response from people who haven't fished that beat before and would like too. For example, say you're fishing the Oakley beat and you'll get 100 offers of help by the end of the day

Good luck!

It will be Beat 6 at Timsbury. Beat 5 is used by Orvis for their day rods. It is a lovely stretch.

Hi Chodgson, Ive fished the test a number of times, as well as the Anton, Dever, Whitewater, Driffield Beck, Itchen, Avon, Wylye and other chalkstreams. If you're after advice, i would like to think that i can help, and would certainly be willing to do so. I'm not a qualified instructor if you need casting lessons but can certainly give a few pointers, and would be willing to assist for nothing other than the chance to walk the bank with you and perhaps have a few casts. (give the other ticket to a friend) If i can do it, and if it's general pointers you're after i'd be willing to help, provided beloved hasn't booked me up for the date you have in mind!!

Cheers
Alex
