Default wading boot repair

Hi, I wonder if anyone has any ideas for a temporary fix for a felt sole which is coming off a wading boot. I've tried screwing it back but the screws won't take. I need them for Monday and was thinking of using duct tape or similar wrapped right round the top of the boot and sole. It's the front that's coming off but the back part looks a bit loose also.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Bill

Hi.

Try drilling a pilot hole first and then put the screws in, are you using the studs or screws? I think the studs won't be long enough.

waterproof contact adhesive does the job thats what snowbee uses just make sure you give the sole a good covering as well as the felt then i put a second coat on then stick them together and lastly wrap tape around them to keep the edges pulled up to stick correctly.

Aquasure/Stormsure, available from Sportfish or outdoor activity shops that are likely to sell wetsuits or sailing kit. Exact same problem sorted earlier this season.

I spent 3 days last autum with soles held on with the brightest duct tape sagefly could find ,sent the b---ers back ,Barbour kindly replaced them !
What is so difficult about this ,seems a common problem these days ,are the manufacturers not using the right glues ,I had a pair of Hodgemans which lasted me 5/6 seasons before they started to disintegrate, the newer ones dont seem to stay together !

i agree with cranefly, aquasure is the thing to use.apply librally to dry sole and clamp tightly.

I'd only add 'Barge Cement' to this list. But to Jim's point above vis a vis 'clamp tightly.' This is THE key to doing the job correctly. If solid contact during the drying/curing process is not achieved .. it's all over the first time you hit the water.

Default Wading boot repair

Hi, Many thanks for all your suggestions. I will try Aquasure, I had'nt heard of that. I take the point about having to clamp very securely. Sage I was just using screws I found in the toolbox!! so probably not the right thing!
In the meantime I'll just tape them up till I get some Aquasure.
Thanks again for all your help.
P.S. I got hold of some Peccary and will try and post a pic. of one of my efforts with it shortly.

The soles came off my Snowbee boots after 10 months. They supplied a replacement pair and they came off too!

i was also told by snowbee that you should rinse the felt off once you take them off as they reckon that its all the dirt and small grit that gets into the sole make the sole hard and flexible so it starts to come away.
