Default Trout eggs!?!

Hi,

When gutting a fish taken from draycote yesterday I found it contained literally thousands of eggs. I was a little surprised by this as I was under the impression from what I have read on this forum that all stocked fished were genetically bred to be neither male nor female? Could anyone shed any light on this for me and explain if this is normal or unusual? This particular fish did look to be recently stocked and weighed in at just under 2lb.

Having only started fly fishing right at the end of last season I'd only caught 3-4 fish prior to my day out yesterday (during which I took my full bag limit after getting off to a rather slow start) so am still very much new to this.

Thanks in advance,
Tom
