Default Bugsplat!

Just read Watsons Fancy's thread on Rutland fly life with interest.. I was driving home from Lln Vyrnwy on Tuesday evening... and as I passed Oswestry.. Wrexham.. Chester, it occured to mat that there was more bugsplat on my windscreen that evening than in the last few year put together! Anyone else noticed this?

Yes mate, my ole' fruit...

Noticed it today, in the van, with its feasably large windscreen, getting pebbledashed with the increasing amount of fly life!

I remember passing the Eden about 5 yrs back and having to close the window of the car because of the fly life gettin inhaled!!!

Obviously there was a dull spell, with very little fly life in the air over the last few years, which has been commented on before now.....

Is this a sign that things are improving?, as I distinctly remember the fly life being very 'thin on the ground' over the last 2 years....

Surely others have noticed?

I hope so Carl... it bodes well for 'real' fishing

The annual numbers for individual fly species/families are generally cyclical.. boom or bust, feast or famine, I think we all know that. In recent years however, I've hardly noticed a single casualty on my windscreen... We did a 1000 mile round trip last August to fish Loch Watten... not a single dollop of jam and custard! Not so many years ago one would have needed scrapers and dangerous chemicals to remove all the hapless victims after only a hundred miles! Tuesday nights collection of casualties took some cleaning I can tell ye! Was kinda happy about it though

It can only be a good thing mate, surely?

Like you, I remember having to soak the front of the Supra with cloth's soaked in all manner of weird and wonderful potions and lotions, just to get 50% of the 'bugsplat' off the bumper/windscreen!

Mind you doing the speeds I was, nowt would've lived if I'd hit it!

Stocks tomorrow for Me & Stevie, nee ginked up blobs I Hope.

Even have the #3 packed!
