Default Would a day ticket carp-only fly fishery work?

Traditional carpers and fly rodders are an uneasy mix on carp fisheries. The carpers may be static, fishing with baits nailed to the bottom, whilst the fly rodder might be mobile, fishing and feeding with floating baits and with a more mobile approach.

But would a fly-only carp fishery ever work? How much would those of you who've done it be prepared to pay for a day ticket? £5? £10? £15? Would it be best as a specialist club-controlled fishery?

No ambitions here. Just curious.

Unlikely. You can get far more of the bivvy or match brigade on a given size of water. They don't need the room that fly anglers do. Oh, they pay similar money and feed your fish for you too!

I can't see it working for the reasons already mentioned. I don't believe there is any real demand for it either. I have a local fishery who have added grass carp (For weed control) and after many years fishing there I've never seen anyone deliberately target them.

I suppose, you could do as Barlow Lakes have done and add a few carp to a trout pond (The place also has 4 coarse lakes) for those interested, but I don't think it would be commercially viable for one second....

Just my two penneth.

Fishing for carp on the fly is huge in the states - there are a few people over here fishing for them on wild waters however I think fishery staff might do more than raise an eyebrow if you turned up with a fly rod.

Maybe a dedicated section for fly anglers - to give the bivy boys some peace - maybe a morning or afternoon a week. I reckon somewhere with a decent head of carp would be a goer!
