Default Rutland Water - Fly life

I was out on Rutland Water yesterday and was amazed at the fly hatches that persisted throughout the day in all parts of the reservoir that I visited. The clouds of buzzer around the trees looked like smoke in places.

I've been fishing Rutland for 25 years and haven't seen fly life like this since the early 90s. I just hope it carries on through the next few months.

The water clarity was also excellent in most places, with the bottom visible in 20ft of water.

You must have had a good day Graham, where abouts were you catching? did you venture up to Manton at all?

The weekends forecast doesn't look to great so it could all change I guess.

As James has guessed, I was out with someone who was getting some early practice in for the Lexus this weekend and so don't feel that I should give all of his information away. Normally I would be more than pleased to share what I learned.

What I would say is that we caught plenty of fish almost everywhere we went so I'm sure it will be a good weekend for all concerned.

Meanwhile I'll be out on Grafham.
