I've fished it a few times, mostly in club competitions and found it not too hard. In the middle lake the water is often less clear and a good idea is to fish into the wind if there is any as the fish are often very close in on that shore. Buzzers can work very well in these conditions fished almost under the rod tip.
The shop is well stocked and I've never had a problem with the staff but I know more than one angler who has had a problem with the management of the fishery and have vowed never to go back.
I haven't fished there for several years so things may be different now.

“There is no more lovely country than Monmouthshire in early spring. Nowhere do the larks sing quite so passionately, as if somehow inspired by the Welsh themselves. There is a blackbird on every thorn and a cock chaffinch, a twink as they call him there, on every bush...... It moved me profoundly. I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”
