Default Llyn Celyn near Bala Lake -anyone know anything about the fishing?

I'm likely to be down Bala Lake way later this week and wondered whether LLyn Celyn was worth a visit. I'd expect wild browns. Anyone know whether I'd be wasting my time?

I don't fish Celyn as a rule but it can be v.good for wild brownies when a huge spate flows into the top-corner,

Llyn Tegid can be okay for wild browns at the top end; but nowhere near as good as Brenig would fish with a team of flies specifically designed to catch browns, not rainbows, in the far bank margins.
A size 12 Camasunary Killer, at this time of year, would do the biz: deadly for browns whilst rainbow stockies tend to ignore it.

Thanks guys. Celyn used to be controlled by a local club who, I recall, did some rainbow stocking, but it seems they've given up the lease, so its a kind of no-mans land. Staying near Llanderfel, Celyn is way closer than Brenig, but the idea of fishing Brenig selectively for brownies is very tempting. Wind direction and cloud cover will probably determine who I visit.

Hello davidms
llyn celyn has not been stocked fo several seasons [6 or7 at least] there are browns present but not a large head of fish, the water belongs to united utillities same as llyn brenig . if its wild browns you want try the bala club ,they have wild brown trout fishing on cwm prysor above celyn and also on the river tryweryn.Lake vyrnwy on the other hand has fantastic brownie fishing along with a few bows to keep it interesting
tight lines robroy
