Default Winter fishing

Do any of you guys out there in cyberspace carry on fishing through the winter months around central Scotland/Tayside area? I have not tried it before but would be keen to give it a go seeing as the weather now seems to be much milder these years.

Any recommendations for venues?

Are there any groups or clubs that still venture forth Nov to March?

Cheers,

DSB

I don't know about Scotland, but here in the frozen tundra of the north central US, our best fishing is in the winter months.

Now, I'm saying it's the best fishing. NOT the most comfortable or easiest. Cripes, last winter after a big snowstorm in March, a buddy and I trudged through better than knee deep snow for over a mile to get to a good section of the river. Who the hell needs a gym? 20 minutes of that is the workout equivilent of about 3 days on the stairmaster. Then there's the standing in 3 degree water for hours on end. . .

The payoff is that the fish are concentrated and they are not nearly as skittish as they are in the warmer months with the low water.

I fish the earn for Grayling. Most productive area is around kinkell but the Crieff angling club stretch can also be good. The no wading rule makes fly fishing difficult though.

Default winter fishing

Tweed and Teviot are good for winter grayling.

Long trotting on the Teviot.Mainly fly on the tweed.

Should take 1 1/2 to 2 hours to drive from the perth area.
