What knot are you using to tie the dropper to your mainline?

this is the knot that works best for me and hardly ever gets tangles ,i cut the loop so as only one of the sections stands clear for the dropper ,it takes a few goes at getting the length right in the loop.

Default I'm anything but an 'expert' at this ...

but my two fly set-ups (all river fishing) either have the second fly (lighter of the two) leader tied to the bend of the first, or to the eye of the first hook. This has the upper fly hanging below the leader like the letter "J."

When I do get a 'wind knot,' actually a casting fault knot, it's always in the connection to the 'trailer.' Reason I'm given is that there was just not enough 'speed' to keep the lower section straight, or the leader to the trailer landed in a pile and knotted itself. Still a casting fault issue.

I have always wondered why this knot is never mentioned in the mags or on here

It's a great knot and one I have used even when bottom fishing for deep dwelling saltwater fish up to 30lbs+ on 20lb line so it's a good 'un!

Yes, it does take a bit of practice but once mastered it is very easy and quik to tie (quicker than the water knot certainly)

Personally, I use the riverge silver rings for my droppers. Even if I do get a tangle it is simple to cut it all back and re-tie it with the silver rings.

well, thats just my opinion

SB, there is a current thread going on just this subject. No time to 'research' for the link. But it's a current topic.

the knot I use to tie dropers is a duncan loop ? cut the mono where you want your droper , pull the line mono spool end down 6/8 in lay the two along side each other and tie the knot the spool end is the droper. once done it leaves the droper hanging facing slightly back. "it is an old proven method for strength ?"
