just tie a loop on the leader then loop to loop, ie pass the leader loop over the line loop and pull the end of the leader through the line loop,

i no longer use loops, loops are great, strong and convenient to change, the problem is getting a good loop on the stiff butt of a tapered leader,

nail knot for me until the leader gods come up with something

A "perfection loop" works well on the thick end of tapered leaders. I've never had one fail on me, puts no elbow in your line and a cinch to tie if you use your thumb to form the loops and pull through using your fingernail against the thumbnail.

I mostly use nail knots or a Gray's Loop now but a couple of lines still have braided loops. I use a loop-to-loop connection with the Gray's Loop.

depending on the type off taperd leader you can cut the thick plastic but off and use a braided loop it works great on some.

I endorse Perfection loop as suggested as being the way to go for your needs.Used it for years in various situations.
