Default Gift Ideas

I shall (unfortunately) be passing the big 40 this year and the wife has made equiries regarding a suitable pressie.

Being a fairly contented chap and totally aware she'll be unlikely to agree to a night with a bevvy of high class buxom hookers we arrive at the possibility of fishing related goodies.

I'd imagine a spending of around £200 or so (although who knows) so any ideas appreciated be it tackle, tickets or anything else.

Note: I have most the the tackle I need however upgrade options will be considered. I have a ressie/still water set-up (6-7w 9'6" Greys GRXi) and a river one (5w 8'6" Delta Airflow Classic).

I'd advise getting a hardy demon reel, they really are the dogs dangelies!

it is a cassette type reel too so spare spools are only a tenner and they have a brilliant way of getting them on and off with a large locking nut so its loads easier to change than the grxi reels.

I'd opt for a guided day on a river of your choice, with a good guide.

Why not something you would not buy for yourself? I have in mind some of the very fancy and pricey kit that is sold by, say, Orvis.

My wife and mother clubbed together and recently bought me one of these:

but they do far more expensive things than that. I love that case..it carries the lot but I would never have spent a hundred quid on it, myself.

A friend of mine in Oz turned 70 last year. I got him a priest and morrow sppon mane with nickel silver parts. A made by John Brough. Even had name date and a little messeage added to the shaft. These are made from cand and nickel silver. Absolutely first class and my mate was chuffed to bits.

I'd go with that... my birthday last year I opted for a day out with Eric Hope on Derwent Water... best days fishing!
