Default Fishing around Cambridge?

Can anybody point me in the direction of fishing within striking distance of Cambridge?
The only 2 places that I am aware of are Grafham and Larkwood.
Anyone tried the Cam for pike, chub or even the wild brownies that are rumoured to live there?

Thanks in advance.

Hi

I was in Cambridge on business a couple of weeks ago but wished I had packed a travel rod. I was in a pub by the river Cam. (I can't remember the name of the pub but it was opposite another pub, called the Anchor). !! Near the Garden House Hotel?! From our table I watched lots of chub (some good sized ones too), milling about in the sunshine along with, I think, Roach.

Just watch your back cast!!!

Alex

Yes, I know the stretch. Plenty of nice roach, dace, and some whopping chub. But to land a party of foreign tourists in a punt you might have to step up to a 6 wt line and a heavier tippet...

There's a couple of stockie ponds at Earith Lakes and Manor Farm (Sandy) that are both within half an hour of Cambridge.

Rib Valley, in Ware, is not much further and will be excellent from October.

further to the ones already mentioned, for next season you might like to try the Audley end FF who fish the upper stretches of the Cam from Chesterford to Audley End. Small river stocked with browns to add to the wild ones. Could try for a rod on the R.Lark, similar to the above but perhaps too far? Both season tickets only.
For pike etc on the R. Cam you are most welcome to have a go on my stretch.
C.
