Default Fly fishing in Normandy

Hi

Can anyone give me advice about where I might be able to fish in Normandy this Easter? I’m staying in a small village (Anthou) on the river Risle but have no idea how to find out where I can fish – and where to get permits/day tickets. Tried web sites like Goumet fly – nice, but sadly out of reach.

Looking at the maps and info found on the web the Andelle, Iton, Risle, Charentonne and Touques rivers are all within easy reach and probably also the Pay Caux region. Any tips for flies etc would be very welcome.

Oliver Kite used to travel to Normandy to fish these rivers, certainly the Andelle and Risle, and you should treat them exactly like a UK chalk or limestone stream in terms of flies and tactics. The bad news is they are amongst the best fishing in France and you might find it hard to get on them.

I had been spared to see another spring, and I thank God for it.”

Try Hedy and Adrian Thompson on the Andelle. I did an advisory visit on stream improvements there last year. They are great fun and the river is beautiful. I was there in a flood, but the stream looked to have a lot of potential.

Mention that I put you in touch.

Good luck if you go.
