Default Human female pheromones as a fish attractant

This is nowt but speculation with very little basis in fact, isn't it? (Probably conjured up by male fishermen struggling to find a reason how a mere woman could have landed the largest salmon in British history, I suspect.) Yet, or so has been my experience, an overwhelming majority of fishermen (and women) believe it to be gospel.
What are your thoughts?

I frequently fished with my mate, Dave, and his girlfriend, Vicky, at Ladybower where she would often out-catch us, even though she'd less experience and her casting was limited - female pheromones was our excuse

I know a lot of female anglers, and they are all very good at catching and casting. Whether it's pheromones or not, I do think the attitude that women have in fishing is superior in many ways to a man's, they just don't apply the same pressure to themselves.

'overwhelming majority'...I don't think so.It's a daft old rural myth triggered by fact that some mouthbreathing macho men cannot acccept that some women fish better than they do.I've seen some damn good shots at high pheasants by women too but pheromones didn't come into it.It could be that testosterone makes some men talk **** ?

I believe that a female who is a stranger to personal hygine will always attract more flies, don't know about fish though!

I posted a Donny Donovan story about the exact same thing on the Atlantic Salmon thread a couple of weeks ago called The Feminine Touch. Worth a read.

science has proved that fish do smell, if they can smell phermones they must have an opinion one way or the other, they must respond to their own just like we do or they wouldnt breed.

I do remember an article in the Sun, or the Mirror, some years back about a guy who always kept a pair of his wife's "soiled" panties in his fly box, he swore they increased his catch rate - the very idea stinks to me but it might just be worth a try

not sure if this is off topic but aniseed used to be recommended as a trout attractor,

also, noticed while fishing a couple of years ago that sometimes when i changed my fly i immediately caught, the same fly was then ignored if i had a fag, polarised glasses gave me an insight, it appeared that the fish were turning away from the flies with a bit of nicotine on
