Default Washing line.

Hi All, I keep reading about the washing line method can you tell me if you can use a floating line for this method or does it have to be a sinking line? also what lenght of leader would you use and how long are the dropper's? and do you only use buzzer's on the dropper's?.

Thanks Steve.

The normal setup for the washing line is with a midge tip or intermediate line with 15' leader, Booby on point then, Buzzers /Diawl bach/ Crunchers on normal length droppers.

What would you use on the point Jim, if boobies are banned?

HI' you could use a full floater, but Jim's suggestion gets the flies down rather better if the fish aren't quite so well up in the water. Also lets you use more of the water column. TC

A good method is to fish the washing line with 4 flies on a floater with a heavyweight DB or buzzer (tiemco 2457 size 8 or similar) 2ft from the booby and in calmish conditions and even from a boat on a slow drift your booby will be 10ft+ down within a minute or so (medium to small eyes). Fish the buzzers on the drop then retrieve the flies in the same way you would a single booby on a sinking line (slowly with pauses). Very effective!
