Default Preparing a whole Deer skin

As the title says, l have the chance of a whole Roe deer skin, how do l go about preparing it to be used for tying with.

make sure all the flesh etc has been scraped off, dry it out thoroughly before the beasties get to it, then treat it with borax. probably best good give the hair a good wash and comb.

to cut it into manageable pieces, take a good sharp knife to the flesh side and cut 4inch wide strips along the length, and then cut the strips into 4x4 squares.

It needs to be a winter coat not the red summer coat .the winter coat is very thick ,the whole skin is good for cdc and elk the back probably the best and you can also use the white rump ,i use it myself cut it into 6 inch squares a whole skin would do you twenty lifetimes,
