Default Rutland today and the usual idiot minority

Fished Rutland today. Fantastic fish and plently of them!!

My day was soured somewhat by the sight of a well known local competition angler and former England international, catching fish and then, in the full view of anybody in the stockie bay area, over arm throwing his fish 8-10 yards up the bank. This was then followed by a group of youngish lads dragging their fish up the bank rather than use any sort of landing net or indeed making any effort to pick the fish out whilst they were still in the water.

This local competition angler and so called expert should know better and shows the total lack of repect that a minority of competition anglers seem to have for their catch. He also had another well known competition angler fishing with him. Obviously neither saw any problem with this total lack of repect for the fish or our sport.

Sadly i have seen such displays before any it surley can not be long before such activities are brought to the attention of the anti angling campainers.

These sights need stamping out of our sport as we are simply hand feeding the anti's evidence to back up their campains.

Just for the record, it has been reported on fishypics website that Ian Barr and John Emerson were fishing in stockie bay today. These were not the anglers that i saw throwing the fish.

Angry

give the fish the respect it deserves and dispatch it humanley,
rather sad when these people should be setting an example to up and coming anglers. bet if yousaid anything to them you would have go a mouthful of abuse too, sickens me, how do you think they would feel if someone put a bag over their heads and left them to slowly die gasping for breath,
im disgusted

^^ seconded.

People who show little respect for their quarry have no place in fishing imo.

Reminds me of a sad incident i witnessed last year on a local river where a guy was catching trout after trout on worm from standing on top of a weir and then throwing them back over some 16ft or so

A few choice words in his ear sent him packing though

name & shame.

The only way deep into litigation, unless you have evidence to back up your claim - either reliable witnesses who'll back you to the hilt or a video recording.

I'm as curious as the next man as to who the culprit is but I wouldn't want to see anyone on this forum on the wrong end of a lawsuit he can't handle just because he was egged on from the sidelines. There would also be the little matter of the forum being sued as well and possibly closed down as a result.

And no, I wasn't the man chucking the fish...

This type of behaviour if as portrayed is both out of order and very sad.

Surely Rutland authorities should be made aware so at least they can monitor these ? people in the future.
