Default gutting fish on the bank/boat

Have recently started gutting fish over the side of the boat and bank, sends off a nice oily slick, not sure if this could be classed chumming/ground baiting, am I wrong to be doing this, certainly attracts the seagulls maybe fish too.

Anyone else do this? is it frowned upon?

Won't get you asked back if you try it on any of Anglian Water's waters.

I'm sure it's an environment agency offence to gut your fish into the lakes and rivers, not 100% on this.
Why don't you just gut them and dispose of the guts into a bin?

Just happened to have my filleting knife with me, and it seemed like a good idea, less mess at home, the other half makes me gut all my fish outside, and although I'm happy to fish in the rain, I'm not keen on standing outside and gutting fish in the rain, if it is an offence then I wont do it again, promise.

Is there a reason why this may be frowned upon?

Jaws is right. Fish guts are considered regulated waste and Plumpy will require a special licence! Waters where bins are provided (on the bank) often say that only guts should be placed in them as other waste will breach their terms and conditions with the EA.
Plus, it would almost certainly ensure that the next fish you hook would be a pike!

Consider my wrist firmly slapped, wont happen again.

When boat fishing I hope that we all urinate into a bottle and dispose of this in the appropriate place once we are on dry land, wouldn't like to think that anyone uses the bailer and tips it over the side, or is this an accepted method.

One of the main problems with it Plumpy is the chance of passing on disease, parasites etc to other fish in the water eaten the left over entrails, this is one of the main reasons why it is a E.A. offence.

Hey up Plumpy
Would,nt have thought it would go down well, best take them
home and gut them. Speaking as a sea fisherman aswell there are,nt too many
harbour masters that like you gutting your fish when you come back from a succesful trip, in there harbours
