As a rule I don't generally go in for competitions and I don't generally fish the Test, but hey, what good are rules unless you break them?
On April 24th there is a One Fly competition on the River Test. So ethics to the wind I'm taking part - to write a feature about it, but also to raise funds for The Wild Trout Trust: The WTT is taking the fab idea of Trout in the Classroom, pioneered on the River Wandle, and is working with the association of River Trusts to roll it out to classrooms across the country. As an ex-teacher and now as el presidente of the WTT I'd love to get this brilliant project off to a flying start.
I know we are beset by appeals all the time but please if you have £5 or £50 that you can spare, I'd be more than chuffed if you could take the time make a donation on this page (it's dead easy):

As an added incentive (or the booby prize depending on how you look at it!) I'll put all the names of donors into a hat and pick one for a day on a drop-dead fabulous chalk stream, in May if we can arrange it - all wildies and some big fish, picnic, the works. Full guiding services including knot tying, fish spotting etc. I'll even tell you when to strike. Good day guaranteed.
Many thanks.
There's more info on Trout in the Classroom on the donation page.
